Changes to the Consultation & Examination Process for Those with a Fever & Other Symptoms

Starting from November 9th, 2020, in preparation for the concurrent prevalence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and seasonal influenza, medical institutions that will conduct examinations and testing on patients with a fever and other symptoms will be designated as “medical institutions cooperating to provide examinations/testing”.

Presently, if you thought that you may have been infected with the novel coronavirus, you were asked to consult with a “consultation center for returnees and those who have been in close-contact with an infected person”. However, from November 9th, 2020 onwards, you are asked to first call and consult with a family doctor and then follow their instructions regarding examinations and testing.

Additionally, the “consultation centers for returnees and those who have been in close-contact with an infected person” that are established in each health center have been changed to “examination and consultation centers”.

In the event that you don’t have a family doctor or other medical institution that you can call and consult with, you can contact one of the “examination and consultation centers” that are located in health centers, and they will direct you to a “medical institution that is cooperating to provide examinations/testing”.

A message to Tokushima citizens,

The number of COVID-19 cases has been decreasing. However, this does not mean that the virus has completely disappeared. Please continue to practice good habits to reduce the risk of infection. Those living with the elderly, or businesses that provide services to the elderly, should be especially careful.

  • Avoid areas that have poor ventilation, areas where many people gather, or areas where people are forced to be at a close distance.
  • Avoid spending a long amount of time in areas where people gather. If you are feeling unwell, avoid going to these types of places.
  • When eating at a restaurant, confirm that they are following the guidelines set forth to prevent the spread of infection.
  • When at karaoke, wear a mask or face shield. Make sure to disinfect the microphone as well.
  • When you are feeling unwell, take time off of work.
