Applications are now open for dancers and staff volunteers to participate in Arasowaren for the Tokushima City Awa Odori 2026! There are 60 spots available for dancers on a first-come, first-served basis: 40 for the Master Course and 20 for the Trial Course, including 10 spots for Onna Odori (women’s costume) dancers. Spots are limited, so make sure to apply as soon as possible if you are interested!
Performance Date and Time: Friday, August 14, 2026
Meeting Place: Tokushima Prefecture International Exchange Association (TOPIA) (6F Clement Plaza, Tokushima Station)
Schedule for Aug. 14 (Tentative)
2:30 PM: Gather
6:00 PM: Opening Ceremony
6:30 PM: Dance Begins
9:00 PM: Dance Ends
Participation Fee: 3,500 yen
Please be sure to bring the following items.
For Otoko Odori dancers:
White T-shirt (with a loose neckline)
Tabi socks (approx. 3,000 yen. Please inform a staff member if you do not have a pair.)
For Onna Odori dancers:
Camisole
Tabi socks (approx. 3,000 yen. Please inform the person in charge if you do not have a pair.)
*Yukata and dance pants will be provided.
How to Apply
Fill out the application form and submit it via online form, in person, or by fax to the Arasowaren Executive Committee (Located at the Tokushima Prefecture International Exchange Association).
Note:
- Please refrain from applying by phone call.
- Applications will close once each category reaches capacity.
- Walk-in participation on the day of the event (without registration) is not permitted.
- Master Course participants must attend practice sessions.
- Dancers’ Practice Dates and Times: July 7 (Tue), 16 (Thu), 21 (Tue), 30 (Thu), and August 4 (Tue) from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM (Planned)
- Rehearsal Location: Tokushima Prefectural International Exchange Association (Tokushima Living & Support Center for Foreigners) – Meeting room
