On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, TOPIA held a Pension Seminar.
A staff member from the Tokushima North Pension Office gave a presentation on Japan's public pension system.
The seminar covered the basic features of the pension system, including the requirement for foreign residents living in Japan to enroll in and pay pension premiums. Participants also learned that people who have difficulty paying premiums, such as students, may be eligible for the Special Payment System for Students or the Pension Premium Exemption System.
Five participants from China, Germany, and Indonesia attended the seminar.
TOPIA staff provided interpretation to help everyone understand the presentation.
Participants commented that the seminar was very informative and that they were pleased to have their questions answered. It was a valuable opportunity to gain a better understanding of Japan's pension system.
If you have any questions about pensions in Japan, please feel free to consult your local Pension Office or TOPIA at any time.
