On Sunday, December 21, 2025, a pension seminar was held at TOPIA.

This seminar was the second installment following the pension seminar held in August. Once again, staff members from the Tokushima Kita Pension Office joined us as guest speakers. A total of six participants from China, Vietnam, the United States, and Ireland attended the seminar.

Participants were divided into groups based on the languages they could understand (English, Chinese, and Vietnamese), and a TOPIA counselor was present in each group to provide interpretation.

During the seminar, participants received basic information about Japan’s pension system, such as the requirement for foreigners living in Japan to pay pension insurance premiums, and the availability of exemption procedures if paying the premiums is financially difficult.

The foreign participants who attended had diverse residence statuses and lengths of stay, including workers and international students. They learned about the importance of paying pension premiums not only for old-age pensions, but also for disability pensions in case of illness or injury, and the lump-sum withdrawal payment when returning to their home countries.
