Non-woven Masks are More Effective than Cloth Masks & Polyurethane Masks!

Please wear non-woven masks to help prevent the spread of the Delta variant!

Non-woven masks are said to be more effective than cloth masks or polyurethane masks. Therefore, to prevent the spread of the Delta and other strong variants, we ask the citizens of Tokushima, as well as those visiting the prefecture, to proactively wear non-woven masks.

Please wear your mask correctly and fit it so that there are no gaps.

The main purpose of masks is to prevent the swallowing of droplets from when someone coughs or is talking. Recent studies have shown that where the drops come from/ who they are inhaled by, the distance of the parties, how the masks are worn, and the materials of the mask, can cause large changes in effectiveness.

According to a simulation by a super computer “Fugaku”, the percentage of particles captured by masks was higher for non-woven masks when compared to cloth or polyurethane masks. Additionally, masks that have a metal fitting and were fit correctly to not allow for openings provided more protection.
